A quick guide to splitting images

Choose a PNG, JPG or static WebP image. Pick a grid, or enter the number of rows and columns. Check the preview, choose an output format, and download all pieces as a ZIP or one piece at a time.

Rows, columns and piece sizes

Rows run from top to bottom; columns run from left to right. Pieces are numbered across each row, starting at the top left. The whole image is used, without cropping or stretching. If its dimensions do not divide evenly, some pieces will be one pixel wider or taller.

PNG or JPG?

PNG preserves transparent areas. JPG uses a white background for transparency and re-encodes the image at high quality. Grid lines and numbers are preview guides and never appear in the downloaded images.

Download your pieces

Download ZIP includes every piece, even when only the first six are shown. Open the ZIP in your device’s file manager to extract the images. Each filename includes its row and column. The small Download button beneath a piece saves that image on its own.

If an image will not open

This version accepts static PNG, JPEG and WebP files up to 20 MiB, 12 million pixels, and 16,384 pixels on either side. It supports up to six rows and six columns. Animated images, SVG, HEIC and other formats are not supported. Export a smaller PNG or JPG copy in your photo app if needed.

If processing takes time

Large images need more device memory. You can cancel processing, reduce the number of pieces, or choose a smaller image. An export error leaves your current image and settings available to try again. Avoid refreshing the page while working: the image is kept only in this page’s memory.

Where does my image go?

Your selected image is processed in your browser. It is not uploaded to our server. Downloaded files are saved by your browser to your device. Clearing or replacing the image releases its page resources.
